As I was thinking about what Easter is really for (no, I don't mean bunnies and candy) I decided to write it out. It sort of turned into a poem after the first two lines, so hopefully you get the point. It is not my best, but oh well. I will think of a title later, because I can't come up with one right this second ;)
Once upon a broken time,
The time of bears, wolves and jackals,
Beings were destined to Hell by shackles—
Not even worrying about their crime.
The Ram that loved these created beings
Sent His only Lamb down yonder.
He did not even pause or ponder,
But went right down to teach His teachings.
Expecting a lion to come and save,
They mocked this little Lamb of worth,
Not knowing by Whom He was birthed
Or by Him their way would be paved.
Their ignorance got a hold of them,
For power, pride, and greed were great.
This made their hearts of burning hate.
‘Twas the innocent Lamb that was condemned
This simple story shan’t end here.
For after three days of bitter darkness,
The bears, wolves and jackals so heartless
Saw a glorious event appear.
The humble Lamb that lad down under
Arose again, defeating death.
The very ones who took His breath
Are now saved because of His wonder.
Our once upon a time is still broken
With bears, wolves and jackals.
Our life would still be condemned to shackles,
But that humble Lamb paid all tokens
After death,
if we should ever breathe,
We need to
learn their lesson and believe!
